The Artist

I’m a painter and radically self-sharing writer living in Birmingham, AL, with my three dogs, hoarder-level collection of houseplants, piles of books, and way too many art supplies.

My current exploration is the Amethyst Collection, where I create abstract pieces using inks made from amethyst stones. I love the meditative quality of making these pieces, tilting the paper slowly and disturbing the inks to create intricate layers of texture. It’s a genuinely centering and playful process.

Art plays a significant role in my healing from complex PTSD. I am my favorite version of myself when I am making.

I consider all of my various projects my “creative ecosystem.” I write openly about my life and inner worlds at “
Strange Feelings,” my substack blog, and am also 250+ poems deep into a manuscript I plan to publish in late 2025.

If I’m ever down, ask me about one of my creative projects, and I will perk right back up - or just take me somewhere I can buy some plants.

Some other things about me:

I am enamored with old knotted trees and lichen, and I am a total audiobook addict. My love language is giving book recommendations. I firmly believe that getting one’s hands in some soil is a solid balm for the soul. I love chill yoga, studying different spiritual traditions, meditation, nesting into my spaces, listening to interviews with other creatives and taking my dogs to romp around in the woods.

I am continually astounded by the ability creating has to quiet the ghosts and center myself back within myself.

I’m a seeker of the mundane magic in the ordinary days.
